A volunteer writes:   Our Gregory has a lot going for him – he’s gorgeous for starters, and I think should be the official ‘greeter, ambassador’ for us.  There isn’t a person or dog he doesn’t want to meet and even thinks the squirrels and birds in the park might enjoy his company as he pulls towards them. Sorry Greg!  Showing off his housetraining skills the moment we’re out the door, he then greets a staffer with a big stand up hug.  So social and friendly, Greg poses for photos like a pro, shows off his ‘sit’, and can be a bit grabby with treats so best to let him take them from the palm of your hand. Kisses, tail wags, a big goofy smile – he’s a terrific dog who has been well taken care of before joining us.  Curious and alert to everything going on beyond our pen, he greets every dog passing by with a friendly wave of his tail.  In group play with other males, Gregory bows to solicit play and then enjoys running play.  His caramel coat (ice cream cone) and white face (vanilla ice cream with a dollop of caramel) is stunning and his personality matches.   He’s looking for a fun, friendly and lively person or family with whom to spend the rest of his life.    We’re  rooting for him to meet that person today so come pay us a visit and be sure to ask for him.

ASSESSMENT:
Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth.
Tag: 2. Dog is a bit distracted, but plays and hops
Squeeze2:  1 / 2. Dog shoulder rubs during positioning, gently  pulls back his paw.
Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy.
Summary: Gregory displayed no concern during his behavior assessment.

PLAYGROUP:
11/17: When introduced off leash to another dog in the care center, Gregory offers play bows to solicit.  He engages in rough play.
11/18: Gregory engages in running play with a group of male dogs. He will mount during play.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:
Gregory allowed handling during his initial medical exam.
