11/05/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
11/5/16 15:30 Basic information: Gracie is a roughly 7 month. old Am Pit Bull mix. The Owner got her from the previous owner as a gift; she has owned Nemo for over a month. The owner surrendered Gracie because Gracie is not getting along with her child and other people inside or outside the home. Gracie has never been taken to a vet. Socialization: Around strangers Gracie is very timid and but friendly with the owner. Gracie has lived with a 6 year old child she does not like to be around children and often will growl and bark at the child or strangers. Gracie has never been around other pets so the owner has no idea how she would behave around them. Gracie has never bitten anyone. Behavior: The owner stats that Gracie is not bothered when the owner moves her food or treats while she is eating, when someone takes her toys away or when the owner disturbs her while sleeping. Gracie likes to be brushed and given bathes but has never had her nails trimmed. When an unfamiliar person or animal approaches a family member or her home she Growls barks at them. The owner does not know how Gracie is around loud noises such as storms or fireworks. For a new family to know: The owner describes Gracie as shy and fearful with a medium activity level. His favorite activity is walk outside with her owner. In the home Gracie tends to follow the owner around the house and is kept mainly indoors. Gracie sleeps in the floor of the bedroom on a blanket. Gracie was fed name brand dry dog food three times a day. She is house trained and has never had an accident in the home, when outside she goes to the bathroom on or around trees and grass. For exercise Gracie is used to brisk walks on the leash and twice a day and does not pull on the leash. Behavior during intake: Gracie was very tense with stiff body, when approached by staff Gracie growled and barked at the staff member, the owner was able to assist us, scanned (-), collared and placing in dog kennel.
11/08/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Such a pretty little puppy in her slate grey coat, one has to wonder why she’s so shy and nervous. Waiting patiently in her kennel all morning, I leashed her easily and out she stepped. Surrendered by her family as she wasn’t getting along with all the family members, including the child, we’re told she’s timid around strangers, isn’t good with children, doesn’t guard her things, likes to go for walks, is good on the leash and is housetrained. Gracie was a bit skittish on the busy main street with so many loud trucks, some construction noises and general chaos, but once we got to the park she relaxed a bit. She enjoys treats taking them super gently, posed for some photos and then off leash in a pen played briefly with a ball. Gracie knows her name and comes when called. She’s waiting for a new person to call her name, a person who will understand that she’s shy and nervous and needs to develop confidence on her own timetable with help from that person. She’s a puppy with a lifetime of love to give to the right person and family. Is it you?
