07/26/16 14:55 Basic Info Gotti is a 3 year old pitt-bull that was surrender due to landlord issues. The previous owner took Gotti from a friend that wasn’t caring for him properly. Gotti has never had any injuries however, he does have seasonal allergies which the previous owner care for with over the counter medication. The previous owner has had Gotti since he was a puppy. Socialization Gotti is a very independent dog. Gotti has spent limited time around strangers. When Gotti is around or interacts with strangers he is timid. Gotti has never been around any children. Client stated that gotti had a negative interaction with a small child that lives in the building. Client stated that he jumped up on her and slightly bite her (which wasn’t in the past 10 days). Gotti has interacted with any dogs or cats. The previous owner stated that he probably wouldn’t be best in that situation. Behavior Gotti hasn’t bitten within the last 10 days. Gotti has bitten on June 19th ( unprovoked). Gotti is usually very well- behaved in the home. Gotti rarely has accidents, mostly when he isn’t walked for the day. Gotti isn’t bothered by loud noises such as fireworks or car horns. Gotti has been given baths and he’s pretty good with the water. Gotti allowed the previous owner to trim his nails. Gotti did allow his owner to take his food bowl away from him however; the owner did advise that a stranger should use caution. Gotti doesn’t like to be sprayed with water out of a spray bottle. For a new family to know Gotti is best described as independent and anxious. Gotti had a high activity level inside the home. He was always running and jumping. Gotti does like all toys. He also likes to such on things such as blankets and pillowcases. He is mostly indoor. Gotti does respond to commands such as sit and come. Gotti does pull on the leash very hard at times. Gotti is fed mostly dry foods 3x a days( any brand). Upon Intake : Gotti was anxious and alert upon intake. He allowed all handling by the owner.

07/29/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD

Gotti previously lived with adults and has not been around children. The owner stated Gotti spent limited time around strangers because he is timid around them. The owner mentioned Gotti had a negative interaction with a small child that lives in the building; he jumped up on her and slightly bit her (which wasn’t in the past 10 days). It was reported by the owner Gotti is house trained, has a high activity level and usually very well- behaved in the home. According to the owner Gotti did allow him to take his food bowl away from him, but the owner did advise that a stranger should use caution. The owner describes Gotti as independent and anxious. At intake it was reported Gotti was anxious and alert, he allowed all handling by the owner. During SAFER Gotti came into the assessment room anxious and panting, he was social towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Gotti was easily aroused and fixated with the leash and slowly de-escalates during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Gotti was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Due to some concerns noted from the previous owner, the behavior department feels he would be suitable for an experienced adopter with no children. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 3. Dog gets easily aroused, fixated with the leash with tense body language and slowly de-escalates. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Dog-dog: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Gotti displays soft body language as he greets the other dog. He spends the majority of his time wandering in the yard, displaying loose and wiggly body language.

According to Gotti’s previous owner, Gotti has not been around other dogs. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Gotti displays soft body language as he greets female dogs. He may become sexually motivated and attempt to mount, but immediately listens to handler interruptions and is able to wander in the pen. When being introduced to a puppy, Gotti offers correction when the puppy solicits play. 7/27: Gotti displays soft body language as he greets the other dog. He spends the majority of his time wandering in the yard, displaying loose and wiggly body language. 7/29-7/30: Gotti greets the other dog with soft body language. He is slightly sexually motivated but immediately listens to handler interruptions. He then spends the remaining time exploring the pen. 8/2: When being introduced to a puppy, Gotti offers correction when the puppy solicits play.
