03/19/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
03/19/16 12:54 Basic Information: Gotti is a 4 year old male American Pit Bull Terrier. He was given to his previous owner as a gift when he was 6 weeks old. He was surrendered because his previous owner is relocating for work and is unable to bring Gotti with him. He has no known injuries or health problems and the last time he went to the vet was last year. Socialization: Around strangers Gotti is friendly and outgoing and when he plays with adults he is exuberant. He lived with children ages 0-2 years old and with them he was relaxed and playful and gentle at play. He lived with another dog for 3 years and with her he was relaxed and playful and exuberant at play but also somewhat rough. Behavior: Gotti has never attempted to bite a person or animal. He isn’t bothered by storms or fireworks. If his food bowl was touched while eating he had a relaxed body. He was friendly if his treat or toy was touched while playing. He isn’t bothered if he was pushed off furniture, held or restrained, disturbed while sleeping, given a bath or if he coat as brushed. He was friendly if an unfamiliar person approached his previous home or owner. For a New Family to Know: Gotti is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident and excitable. He has a medium activity level and the two things his owner liked most about him were; he was protective and friendly. When his previous owner was home Gotti would tend to follow him around. He liked to play with chew toys and bones. He was kept indoor s only and at night he slept in his dog bed. He ate dry Pedigree. He is house trained and rarely had accidents. He well behaved when left alone indoors. He knows how to sit and come on command. On leash he pulls hard and off leash he wanders but comes when called.
03/18/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Don’t let his ‘gangster’ name fool you, Gotti is as sweet and docile as they come and the only thing he’ll be enforcing is a mandatory cuddle policy! Arriving at our Care Center with his beautiful girlfriend Moet (who’s already been adopted), their previous owner left no information on this charming pair but Gotti’s loving and playful personality speaks for itself, he is an absolute doll! His range of facial expressions numbers exactly two–pouty underbite and goofy grin–but both are simply irresistible and when he turns his pleading eyes to mine I want to give him the world. Gotti walks well on leash, seems to be very house trained and though he’s not really into toys he certainly loves to socialize with people and dogs of all shapes and sizes, from little scruffy boys to big girls like his Moet. He comes when called, waits politely and takes treats gently and has no objections to being dressed in a coat or having his face smothered in a towel as I wipe those drooly jowls. An easy-going charmer, Gotti would make the perfect addition to almost any home and any family would be lucky to have him. Welcome this ‘gangster of love’ into your heart today!
03/16/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Gotti pulls a bit on leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up, mouthy (soft). He was excited during handling, jumping up, and was hard to position, but showed no aggression. He was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He was easy to handle when chewing on toys Gotti appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. The behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Playgroup Notes: When off leash with other dogs, Gotti is sexually motivated but begins to play when solicited.
