07/06/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
7/6/16 Goonie is a 10 month old male APBT mix. His owner got him from a neighbor at 3 weeks old. He came to ACC due to crisis (personal problems, landlord conflict, cost, owner health, and lack of time). Goonie hasn’t been socialized w/ strangers. He lived with an adult man and spent a lot of time w/ an adult woman and 7 and 12 year old children. Goonie is relaxed, playful, and tolerant w/ the children. He plays somewhat rough (jumping up) w/ the adults and exuberantly w/ the children. Goonie met a female medium sized dog on a walk recently and was relaxed, playful, tolerant, and played exuberantly w/ her. At first, he made his body very low w/ a low tail. Then, he would jump up and lick her as they play bowed and jumped around. Goonie walks by cats, sometimes looking at them but w/out reacting further. He hasn’t bit anyone. Goonie doesn’t mind storms. He doesn’t mind if someone walks by him while he’s eating or pick up his bowl (w/ food) while he’s not eating. He holds onto toys/bones/stolen objects (e.g. clothing) and runs from his owners when they try to take it. He keeps running back to them but staying out of reach. He sometimes growls, but they feel he’s playing. He allows them to pick it up if he drops it. Goonie leans into the couch as his owners move him off. He doesn’t mind being woken up. He’s nervous during baths. He is tethered in the home when strangers come over. He barks initially but then ignores them. Lately, he relaxes sooner. Outside, he ignores strangers who pass but barks, growls, and lunges at strangers who approach him/his family. His owner feels this is decreasing in severity/frequency. Goonie lunges at strangers who approach, especially if they are yelling or moving around a lot, but some are able to approach calmly, talk to his owner, and even hug her on the other side of him w/out him lunging/vocalizing. Goonie’s family describes him as friendly, affectionate, playful, shy, excitable, and high energy. He follows them. He plays fetch, chase, and tug and likes his ball and tire toys. He lived inside and ate Pedigree dry/ wet foods. He’s housetrained, potties outside, and tries to hold it inside, but often has accidents (#1&2); he’s only walked 1-2 times/day. His family thinks he wouldn’t have accidents if walked regularly. Goonie is well-behaved while left alone in the living room w/ access to other rooms blocked. He knows sit, down, and come here. He went for slow walks and usually walked beside his owner.

BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
No Behavior Summary
07/14/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Goonie greets with a soft body and wagging tail through the fence, however, he does not tolerate enough handling to collar, so he is not introduced off leash. His owner reports Goonie met a female medium sized dog on a walk recently and was relaxed, playful, tolerant, and played exuberantly with her. At first, he made his body very low wtih a low tail; then, he would jump up and lick her as they play bowed and jumped around. The behavior department recommends a pre-adoption interaction as well as allowing Goonie time to acclimate to his new surroundings before introducing him to any resident dogs.
