KNOWN HISTORY: N/A Intact, Stray SAFER ASSESSMENT: 11/1/16 Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away. Summary: Gomez displayed no concern during his behavior assessment. PLAYGROUP: Gomez was surrendered as a stray so his past behavior around dogs is unknown. Gomez was surrendered as a stray so his past behavior around dogs is unknown. 11/1: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Gomez is nervous as he greets a novel female displaying a tense face. He is tolerant of the female’s face to face greetings and play solicitations, but does not engage. He becomes more relaxed as the session continues and socializes with the female dog. 11/4: With a playful male dog, Gomez displays bouncy body language when the other male solicits him to play. He may mount the other male dog, but listens to handler interruptions and explores the pen. 11/5- 11/6: Gomez displays bouncy body language as he interacts with playful male and female dogs. He may attempt to mount but is able to listen to handler interruptions and continues to bounce. 11/7: Gomez was extremely sexually motivated with a specific female today and was persistent after being interrupted.
