Hello, my name is Goliath. My animal id is #15707. I am a desexed male chocolate dog at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 2 years 1 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 08-Dec-2017.
Goliath is at risk due to being diagnosed with Canine Upper Respiratory Disease Complex and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other dogs.

[DVM Intake] DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: Microchip noted on Intake? n History : stray Subjective:bar Observed Behavior – cautious, able to do full exam, grunting Evidence of Cruelty seen -n Evidence of Trauma seen -y – caudal right lateral tarsus Objective T = P = 100 R = wnl BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: mild tarter, approx 2 yrs of age PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: mn x 2 MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted,approx 1 cm area of alopcia dorsal to eyes, lacerations right lateral tarsal area 2 x 2 cm- thickened granulation tissue appears healthy and clean, there is also a laceration cranial to that 2 cm, dorsally expressed serous d/c, left tarsus smaller wound caudolateral tarsus, appear clean and free of hair CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: na Assessment 2 yr mi pit x wounds/lacerations – healing scars dorsal eyes Prognosis: excellent Plan: convenia 3 cc sq and recheck in 7 days to ensure still healing well SURGERY: Okay for surgery

Wounds appear to be healing right lateral tarsal area 1 1/2 x 1/1/2 cm area of healthy appearing granulation tissue. No odor or d/c, non painful. px excellent for healing. Rec recheck on day 14 of convenia
CIRDC noted on rounds S/O: Q/BAR – quieter than usual – attention seeking. Appetite OK EENT: Eyes clear, mild mucoid nasal discharge HL: Coughing, normal RR/RE INTEG: WNL MS: Ambulatory x 4 UG: Neutered A: CIRDC P: Rec doxycycline 400mg PO q24 x 14 days. Excellent prognosis

Look:: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. Allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity:: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth.
Tag:: 1. Dog follows at the end of the leash, body soft.
Paw squeeze 1:: 1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw.
Paw squeeze 2:: 1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw.
Toy:: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. Dog does not place his/her body between you and the toy.
Summary:: During the handling assessment Goliath was friendly and playful. He readily allowed all handling, and showed no concerning behavior.
Summary (1):: Goliath was brought in as a stray so his past behavior with other dogs is unknown. 12/9: When off leash at the Care Center, Goliath is sexually motivated. He immediately begins to sniff her genital area, and attempts to mount her, and is difficult to re-direct his attention.
