09/07/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/07/16 14:40 Gogurt is a young adult male dog, possibly an English Bulldog / Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix. He was found in an apartment and brought to ACC by police with 2 other dogs-a medium-sized young adult female dog and a young female dog that looks like them. Police report that the dogs were friendly and outgoing with them and each other. Gogurt had a loose, wiggly body and wagging tail while I pet him, scanned him (-), collared him, and positioned him for pictures. He and the other dogs were wiggly around each other and sometimes tangled their leashes. They were panting heavily when they arrived, so we gave them water bowls immediately. They drank out of them interchangeably and sometimes from the same bowl at the same time, soft bodied.
09/10/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes “He pulled a little right out of the kennel. But it must been to find the perfect place to do his business, because once he did he walked nice and calmly! He stayed right by my side for the most part and wagged his tail enthusiastically whenever I crouched down to pet him. He seemed interested in and friendly toward passersby. He’s mellow guy and a real treat to walk.” A volunteer writes: His coat is so shiny you’ll need your sunglasses when you come meet him! A little mini tank, he’s like a big muscular dog who shrunk in the wash! Gogurt has the best face, wide open and smiley, friendly and unassuming – what you see is what you get and you can tell what he’s thinking. Found abandoned in an empty apartment with his two female housemates, Gogurt has clearly been well cared for prior to joining us. On his first play date he romped exuberantly with the helper dog. He’s likely housetrained, using the ‘facilities’ as soon as we’re out the door, and he then trundles along by my side as we head to the park. Gogurt sits when asked and takes treats gently so taking some photos of him is easy peasy as he’s so nicely accommodating. It’s so hot our next stop is a water break, followed by a few more pictures and then some cuddling. It’s too hot for some serious snuggles so we settle for a couple of kisses and promise each other more on a cooler day. Of course, I’d rather see him snuggling with his new family so come meet him today. You know he’ll be thinking….I’d like to come home with you.
09/08/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Gogurt came to the care center as a stray so his behavior in a home is unknown. He was found abandoned in an apartment along with two other dogs, two females, it is reported that they were friendly with each other. Upon intake, Gogurt had a loose, wiggly body, and wagging tail. On his relief walk he pulled hard and she appeared friendly and social in the SAFER assessment room. He held the assessor’s gaze for Look, body soft and tail wagging. For Sensitivity his body was soft, ears back and tail wagging. He was playful during Tag. He did not pull back his paw on either Squeeze attempt. He kept a firm grip on the Toy, body loose. The Behavior Team recommends that Gogurt be placed in an Average home. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with soft body. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy.
09/08/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
09/08: When introduced off leash to another dog in the care center, Gogurt engages in exuberant, wrestling play, at times with intent to mount. He arrived into our care with two other dogs (both female), however, no history of their interaction together is available. The behavior team feels that Gogurt could potentially be adopted into a home with another playful dog pending a successful pre-adoption interaction. 9/11-12: Gogurt conintues to engage in paly, at times with intent to mount. He is becoming increasingly respectful of dogs in need of more space or who are uncomfortable.
