11/01/16 13:27 Gino is a male brown and white American Staff with no known medical conditions. Gino was found wandering loose outside and allowed finder to pet him and place him in the car. Finder described Gino as friendly and sweet. During intake Gino was calm and curious. He came right up to the counselor with a wagging tail and allowed to be scanned and collared with no problem. Gino was a little scared to get into the kennel but allowed counselor to pick him up and place him in. Hes sweet and social.

KNOWN HISTORY: N/A Intact, Stray SAFER ASSESSMENT: 11/3/16 Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, or low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Toy: 1. No interest Summary: Gino displayed no concern during his behavior assessment. PLAYGROUP: Gino was surrendered as a stray so his past behavior around dogs is unknown. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Gino displays excited body language to meet the novel female dog- a leaned forward body and a high, vibrating tail. Once in the pen, Gino is sexually motivated but does not attempt to mount. He mostly stands still, tolerating the female’s face to face greetings and play solicitations. Gino was surrendered as a stray so his past behavior around dogs is unknown. 11/3: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Gino displays excited body language to meet the novel female dog- a leaned forward body and a high, vibrating tail. Once in the pen, Gino is sexually motivated but does not attempt to mount. He mostly stands still, tolerating the female’s face to face greetings and play solicitations. 11/5: When greeting novel male dogs, Gino displays soft body language. He displays bouncy body language when solicited to play but never fully engages. He may attempt to mount a male dog but immediately listens to handler interruptions. When a male attempts to mount him, Gino offers soft air snaps as correction. 11/6: Gino continues to interact socially with other dogs. He may bounce a few times but does not fully engage in play. He is however tolerant of high energy play around him and attempts to mount another male when he becomes aroused.
