Ginnie
Hello, my name is Ginnie. My animal id is #16391. I am a desexed female tri color dog at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 2 years old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 18-Dec-2017.
Ginnie was placed at risk due to behavior concerns; Ginnie scored a New Hope only on his behavior assessment so we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.

Summary:: Ginnie would bare her teeth and growl when approaching her kennel. She appears to be uncomfortable or afraid of the slip lead. She has also allowed minimal handling from her caretakers. Out of concern for her stress levels and her response to restraint, we feel Ginnie is not a great candidate for a handling assessment at this time. Please see her owner surrender profile for a full summary of her behavior in her previous home.
Summary (1):: Ginnie was surrender as a stray so her past behavior with other dogs is unknown. 12/19-20: When off leash at the Care Center, Ginnie greets a group of male and female dogs with a soft body. She keeps to herself while exploring the pens.

We recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.
Potential challenges: : Fearful/potential for defensive aggression
Potential challenges comments:: Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: Ginnie has displayed fearful behavior in shelter, she displays no social behavior towards handlers and attempts to increase distance and avoid contact. Because she is so uncomfortable, Ginnie does not tolerate any form of human-touch and has attempted to bite upon direct contact.
