11/05/16 12:01 Basic Info: Gina A1095927 is a 12yr old spayed female gray & white Am Staff who was given to the owner as a gift from a friend as a puppy and is being surrendered due to owner health. Gina’s last vet visit was in 2015 and she currently no known health issues/injuries. Socialization: Gina is friendly/outgoing with strangers. She’s spent time with grandchildren of all ages and was gentle, exuberant, relaxed/playful & respectful of them also with the adults in the home and small dogs she encounters on the street. When Gina spots a larger dog on the street she barks and or ignores them. Gina has never bitten/scratched any person or animal. Behavior: During storms Gina will bark at times. She isn’t bothered by the following: having her food/food bowl, toys/treats touched/moved, being moved off of furniture, being given a bath or with being disturbed while sleeping/resting. Gina hasn’t had her nails trimmed. If someone unfamiliar approaches the home/family member Gina will approach to see who it is. For A New Family to Know: Gina is described as friendly, sweet, affectionate & mellow/relaxed with a low-medium activity level. The owner likes everything about Gina and Gina enjoys lounging and or being pet. When the owner is home Gina follows them around sometimes. She doesn’t really play with toys much and sleeps on her dog bed or on the floor. Gina eats Pedigree dry dog food 1x a day. She’s house broken and well behaved when left home alone. Gina is walked 2x a day where she doesn’t pull on her leash. Her known command is “sit”. Intake Behavior: Gina allowed all handling. She briefly wagged her tail as I approached her to scan (-) her; Gina also allowed to be collared & taken pictures of. Gina walked alongside me where she then hopped into the kennel on her own.
11/09/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: There is simply no ignoring this Grande Dame….she’s gorgeous, she’s gentle, she’s sweet, she’s housetrained and comes with glowing comments from her person who had to give her up due to illness in the family. Gina had lived with her family since she was a puppy and this is understandably a huge upheaval in her life which she is meeting with dignity, bravery, grace and good manners. Yes, she’s confused, I can see it in her eyes, but she’s a lady and will behave as one. We’re told she was wonderful with the grandchildren of all ages visiting the home, is better with small dogs than with large, doesn’t guard her things, is well behaved when left home alone, likes to lounge around, and is sweet, affectionate and mellow. When I asked a staff person to tell me what’s wonderful about Gina, she said, “everything”, and after spending time with Gina I totally agree. Gina is great on leash, checks up often as we walk, loves to play with tennis balls, does a little tap dance when she sees squirrels in the park, puts her head on my shoulder to cuddle giving a sigh and then a kiss, ignored a small yapping dog we passed, walks with a lovely spry step tail wagging all the while. She’s been cared for with love and it’s obvious, and what we wish most for this gorgeous, couldn’t be sweeter senior, is that she gets to live out her life in the warmth of a loving person or family. Seniors are the best and she’s waiting to prove it to you. Come meet Lady Gina today.
Another volunteer writes: Miss Gina is the living embodiment of the phrase “getting better with age.” Gina is 12 years young–her spirit is strong and sweet, and she walks around with a skip in her step. As soon as I walked by her cage, Gina was up and at the front of the cage, letting me know she wanted to take a spin outside. It was late, and I knew I should have been heading home, but how could I say no to that face? Really, I dare you to try! Gina and I walked around, and she explored and sniffed and generally enjoyed being out and about in the world. Gina is wonderful, loving girl, and she would love nothing more than to be your new best friend. Come down and meet Gina!
