MOST RECENT MEDICAL INFORMATION AND WEIGHT
09/20/2016 Exam Type BEHAVIORPART2 – Medical Rating is 1 – NORMAL , Behavior Rating is EXPNOCHILD, Weight 40.2 LBS.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 9/7/16 During her initial medical examination Gigi was tense, nervous and timid; allowed minimal handling. IN SHELTER BEHAVIOR: Initially Gigi was timid and hesitant to interact with handlers or other dogs but was easy to handle in and out of her kennel. Over time she has grown more social and interacted with both humans and dogs with no behavior concerns. UPDATE 9/20: Yesterday an enrichment staff reported that while Gigi was having one-on-one socialization time in the yard she became highly aroused, focusing on inanimate objects in the pen, barking at them and also grabbing onto them. At one point she leapt from the bench trying to grab at the overhead tent poles. And then today, when she was being brought to playgroup, Gigi became highly rope reactive on her way outside. Once inside the pen she again grabbed and bit inanimate objects (eg: the tent pole, spray bottle) and she was very difficult to redirect or deescalate. At this time the Behavior Team feels that Gigi is suffering excessive stress from living at the care center and is rapidly deteriorating. We recommend that placement be sought for her as soon as possible for her well-being as well as to prevent any incidents that may result from her severe stress and arousal. ENERGY LEVEL: Gigi has displayed a low level of energy in the care center. RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced adult home only _x_No children (under 13) _x_Mouthiness/Poor bite inhibition _x_Leash-biting _x_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression (GiGi did not display signs of aggression but was especially fearful of loud noises and sudden movement. She will at times avoid direct eye contact and allows for minimal handling.)
09/07/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/07/16 12:20 Behavior During Intake: Gigi came into our care center as a stray. When the counselor first approached Gigi she shifted her gaze and body away. The counselor proceeded to scratch her on the head which she accepted. Once inside the intake room Gigi was alert and actively sniffing different corners of the room. She was given treats which she willingly took and even sat for. She then proceeded to remain calm and allowed counselor to pet, and collar her.
09/16/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Gigi was a bit of a nervous Nellie when she first arrived, but has proven to be a little wiggle worm! She is petite, has the CUTEST superhero-esque markings, and is truly sweet. She’s super treat-motivated (and even the lowest value ones are enough to help her identify strangers as friends!) and “sit”s like a champ. She seems to have housetraining, wags her tail throughout our walks, and is easy to handle on leash (though sometimes she can’t help but gently prop up her front paws to solicit a cuddle break!). She absolutely lights up like a little kid at Christmas at the sight of a toy, and loves to play fetch or just admire them. Even with new people, it seems it takes just a moment for the Nellie to take a hike and the worm to emerge, but she can still be a little timid if there are loud noises or a lot of commotion. On a recent walk, lots of petting sent her into a celebratory zoomie that ended with her belly-up in my lap…she is too sweet! Gigi may look like she walked right out of a comic book, but she’d really love to walk right into your heart and home…please come see her at Brooklyn ACC!
