Gideon
Hello, my name is Gideon . My animal id is #16456. I am a desexed male tan dog at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 6 years old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 19-Dec-2017.
Gideon is at risk for medical reasons, having been diagnosed with Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex, which is contagious to other dogs. Behaviorally, we have no concerns for Gideon, whom we believe would be suitable for most homes.
Let’s get to know each other a bit more…
A volunteer writes: I love the blockheads, and so I love Gideon. He also makes it easy to love him, especially after rolling over on his back and wriggling around. I mean, picture it, a big goober, handsome, stocky, serious, all of a sudden on his back, four paws waving in the air as he wriggles. Too cute! Gideon is quiet in his kennel, easily leashed and out we go. Pulling hard on the leash until he finds the perfect spot on which to go potty, he’s then easier on the leash. Gideon was found wandering the streets, found by a good samaritan and brought into our care. They reported that he was friendly and outgoing, wagging his tail and licking strangers (can’t be a stranger long when your face gets licked!), and he has shown the same good-natured friendliness at ACC. Leaning in for petting, letting me take the ball out of his mouth, Gideon is a big friendly, tail-wagging hunk. He loves to play fetch, picking up and running with the ball, dropping it and play bowing to it, and having so much fun I can’t help but think what a joy he’ll be to his new person or family. Gideon aced his behavior evaluation in every category, reflecting what a nice dog he is, and I’m here to vouch for him! Super social with people, slightly playful in group but preferring the company of humans, Gideon is a rockstar dressed up as a dog. He’d like nothing better than long walks, a tennis ball or two to toss around, and a snuggle partner for the rest of his life. Be sure to ask to meet him when you visit.
