02/27/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Gibbon came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Gibbon was whining and barking, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Gibbon came into the assessment room anxious and whining, he was social towards the assessor. Not all handling items were able to be conducted as Gibbon growled and try to bite at the assessor consistently on the tag item. No resources and dog to dog was conducted due to behavior temperament. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a New hope partner who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 5. Dog growls or tries to bite.
