09/20/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/20/16 13:45 Gianna A1090518 is a female black smoke wired haired terrier mix who was left behind in her home along with her feline sibling Garcelle A1090519 after their owner moved without them. The finder stated they’ve been feeding the girls and didn’t bring them in sooner because they thought perhaps the owner would return for them. They also stated Gianna & Garcelle are friendly. During intake Gianna allowed minimal handling. When approached to be scanned she flinched, attempted to hide behind the finder and growled. The finder assisted with scanning her (-), collaring and with the taking of her pictures. They also assisted with placing her into a kennel which she didn’t seem to mind when she was lifted into one.
09/29/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Gianna and her kittycat friend Garcelle were found abandonned in an empty apartment, two pretty girls who are looking now for a new home to belong to and a new master to love. I have not met Garcelle and only saw her lovely picture, just a kitten at eleven months of age. Gianna is a very pretty Terrier kind of dog, a little shaggy and whose wiry hair hide beautiful and clear grey eyes. Gianna is wary in her kennel and she at times shows her mother-of-pearl teeth. But open her door and she is leashed easily. Off for a walk around the block we go. She does her business right away. Time for pictures…I cannot see her face, her eyes. I have a new hairbrush. Let’s try it on Gianna. She lets me comb her forhead without any problem but shakes immediately her head. After a few attempts and getting my camera ready, I finally earn a glimpse of Gianna’s cute face. I pet her all over, she jumps on the bench next to me. We are now officially friends. It is not infrequent for “little dogs” to appear “unfriendly” in a shelter environment. Give them time, lots of walks and “human” time and they will come eating from your hand like sweet doves. I love little Gianna and “burn” to meet Garcelle. Come and meet them both at the Manhattan Care Center and make them your very precious forever best friends.
