SAFE 11/18/17
Geneva
Hello, my name is Geneva. My animal id is #9243. I am a female gray brindle dog at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 4 years 2 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 08-Oct-2017.
**DOH HOLD – 6 MONTH QUARANTINE REQUIRED**
Geneva 9243 is at risk for a respiratory illness (CIRDC). Behaviorally, she has been social and affectionate with humans and with other dogs, and is suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience.
Let’s get to know each other a bit more…
A volunteer writes: Watching Geneva wiggling onto someone’s lap is like watching a TV comedy — insert your own laugh track! She’s a riot, all tail wags and gentle hugs, and when she stands up on staff’s lap to scratch herself I couldn’t help but belly laugh — no need for a laugh track there! She’s a thin little girl who in my opinion could use a few extra pounds, and despite that, takes treats gently. Greeting another dog through the fence with sweet tail wags and kisses, she’s also done well with males in playgroup. A very telling comment about Geneva is the behavior assessor’s comment: “In the assessment room, Geneva immediately approached the assessor with a soft body. She solicited attention, climbing into the assessor’s lap…” Yes, a lap is her happy place, and she’s looking forward to finding her happily ever after lap. Is it yours?
Another volunteer writes:
‘This dog is SO sweet’…’She just wants to give hugs’…’I love her’…follow the rainbow of praise from Geneva’s many fans and discover the prize of a lifetime at its end–a solid gold sweetheart with nothing but love love LOVE in her heart and lots of snuggling on her to-do list! Now that she’s enjoying regular meals our resident cuddlebug has put on some much-needed weight (and a cute fall jacket) and she’s truly looking fine and feeling fancy free. Whether trotting around the yard, nuzzling on a bench or innocently ambling over to make friends with every dog she sees (regardless of the return reception), Geneva’s ecstatically happy to be outside in the fresh air and her tail wags almost constantly whenever she’s on a date. She jumps up for standing hugs and if you let her she’ll take treats that way too, but this good girl knows her manners and sits ever so politely to wait for a treat when asked…as long as you don’t make her wait too long! Geneva’s past was no bed of roses but she’s not going to let that stop her joyful spirit from shining brightly now. Give one of our most deserving pups the reward she’s earned 100 times over with her loving and gentle nature, welcome Geneva into your family today!

Recommendations comments:: We have no history on Geneva so we cannot be certain of her behavior in a home environment. However, she is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in addition to physical exercise, to positively direct her energy and enthusiasm.
