09/13/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Gemma previously lived with three adults and two other pit-bulls. The owner stated Gemma is described as shy around strangers and is shy for days but once she is comfortable she will engage in somewhat rough play. The owner mentioned when around the other two dogs she is respectful and will engage in rough play with the dogs. It was reported by the owner Gemma is housetrained. At intake it was reported Gemma was tense, but she allowed all handling with a slow approach. During SAFER Gemma came into the assessment room very shy and timid, she was not interested with the assessor. Not all handling items were able to be conducted as Gemma kept her distance away from the assessor with her head low, body tense, tail tucked and lip licks. She displayed no interest in the toy resource item during this portion of the assessment. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Toy: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: Gemma is utilized to help socialize the puppy she was surrendered with. She displays soft and social body language when interacting with the puppy and is tolerant of her muzzle licks.

She displays soft and social body language when interacting with the puppy and is tolerant of her muzzle licks.
