Gem was calm during her intake. Allowed to be pet, collard, and picture taken without a problem.
Behavior:
Gem walks calmly on leash. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Gem followed the assessor at the end of the leash with a calm and relaxed body language when playing tag with assessor. She was not interested in toys.
Gem did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that she can go to an Average home.
Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture.
Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, ears relaxed, low wagging tail, open mouth.
Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw.
Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw.
Toy 1: No interest.
Group Behavior:
When off leash with other dogs, Gem is nervous and runs away when approached.
4/15 update: Gem is more comfortable, approaching to greet with a soft body and wag. She readily greets and sniffs the other dogs but will, again, run away if solicited.
