Did someone say time for a walk?!! Gavin’s signature look is all ears and his signature move is the stand-up-and-lean in embrace of a dog who desperately wants to be loved. He’s a bit nervous over his confinement but trying hard to be a brave boy and each day brings more smiles and tail wags than the one before. Easy to leash, seemingly house trained and nicely responsive to my voice, he’s also surprisingly gentle for his size and his hugs are never anything but wonderfully soft and sweet. Other than giving and receiving snuggles, Gavin’s interests include going for brisk walks and sniffing pretty much everything he sees but his true passion in life lies in only one direction…dogs, dogs, DOGS! No one is more excited to meet new four-legged friends than Gavin and no one more disappointed when they walk away again, it seems he just can’t get enough of canine company and a home where he’ll have plenty of opportunities to play and socialize with like-minded pups would be his idea of heaven on earth. Gavin is going to make a great addition to an active family and he’s ready to fly high as a beloved pet once more. Will you be the wind beneath his ears?
SAFER
Gavin pulls a bit on the leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Gavin was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He was not interested in toys.
Gavin did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that he can go to an Average home.
Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor.
Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw.
Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw.
Toy: 1. No interest.
PLAY GROUP
When off leash with other dogs, Gavin solicits with toe tapping and bounces/hops, but walks away when not reciprocated.
6/2 update: Gavin offers sniffs to males and females, then roams.
6/3 update: Gavin offers a few playful bounces to males and females.
6/4 update: Gavin engages in bouncy play with males and females.
