04/12/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Gandalf came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Gandalf was nervous, but he allowed all handling. During SAFER Gandalf came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly and social towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Gandalf follows the handler but was a bit distracted during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Gandalf was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Gandalf appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft but a bit distracted. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away.
04/12/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE

When off leash with other dogs, Gandalf approaches and greets with a slow, soft body. His movements continue to be slow once inside the pen and he is tolerant of play solicitations from the helper dog. Gandalf is sexually motivated but does not attempt to mount. 4/27-28 update: Gandalf greets softly and is a bit nervous. He is tolerant of a female who continually solicits him to play. He greeted a male with a high tail and slighty stiff body. He is tolerant with exchanging sniffs with the other male, afterwards there are no further interactions between them. He explores his surrounding.
