A volunteer writes: Jake loves human interaction! He’s always looking for a good walk whenever someone approaches his kennel. It’s hard to pass him by, because he is looking to stretch those long legs of his. He’s a very good boy, who is always ready to love and please his handler at the shelter. Jake has a very kind demeanor. He participates in playgroup with the other dogs, and he’s walked alongside them while outside the shelter. Please find a place in your heart to find him a happy home.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jake came into our center on 8/30/2016. He was distracted and interested in his surroundings upon intake, allowed all handling but was hesitant to be placed in kennel. Jake pulled hard on leash for his relief walk. He displayed high energy and movement upon entering SAFER assessment area. Jake allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, relaxed. He leaned into assessor during Sensitivity item, low wagging tail. Jake followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, body soft. He did not pull his paw back on both Squeeze attempts. He showed no interest in Toy. Jake did not approach the helper dog, distracted. Jake would do well with an Average adopter, but will require daily mental and physical stimulation in the forms of walks, runs, exercise, and play. He may benefit from obedience classes to learn leash manners and focus. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture.
