02/24/16 19:20 BASIC INFORMATION Fresh is a 2 year old male American Pit-Bull Terrier. He was given to his owner as a gift and has been in their care since he was 2 months old. Fresh was surrendered into our facility to owner no longer having proper time to care for him. There are no known health issues or injuries. SOCIALIZATION Around stranger Fresh is friendly and outgoing. He plays gently with adults and sometime rough depending on how you play with him. He lived with 2 children since they were born both now ages 2 and 4, and with them he is relaxed, gentle, and playful. He lived with another dog a female who was younger than him and they were relaxed and playful with each other. Though he has never spent time or lived with another cat, he does display aggressive behavior towards and chase after them. There is no known history of him biting another person or animal. BEHAVIORAL Behavior is good with Fresh. He isn’t bothered when there are fireworks or storms going on. You are able to touch his bowl while he is eating, also take food or treats away from him. For bath time he may jump out the tub or drink the water from the hose. He loves having his coat brushed and isn’t bothered when being held or restraint. He has no experience having his nails trimmed. When unfamiliar people approach you or the home he is friendly and may jump on you to invite you to play. Potty accidents can occur if not taken out on time, he will tell you by reaching for you or crying.

Helper dog: A1064191 Fresh previously lived 2 adults, another dog and 2 children ages 2 and 4 years old. The owner stated Fresh is relaxed, gentle, and playful towards the children. The owner mentioned Fresh is relaxed and playful towards the other dog in the house hold, and if Fresh sees a cat he will give them a chase. The owner describes Fresh as friendly, affectionate, and playful. It was reported by the owner Fresh is house trained, crate trained has a high activity level and well behaved when hone alone but may bark and whine. At intake it was reported Fresh was friendly and allowed all handling. During SAFER Fresh came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, he was friendly and affectionate towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Fresh joins the game during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Fresh was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Fresh appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, and lip neutral.
