04/16/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: I know they say you should consume fries in moderation but lovely, timid French Fry is a dog who quickly left me wanting to come back for a second and third helping of his unassuming charms. He arrived with a scruffy little buddy Snork (A1070122) and, though they’re not bonded, when we stopped by his kennel the two boys were happy to see each other again, snuffling faces and wagging tails through the door. French Fry follows his nose but walks well on leash, seems very house trained and greets every dog we pass with soft good manners. He likes to play with toys, takes treats gently and has the most soulful eyes you’ll ever see, but at this point in time he’s clearly uncomfortable with being petted, so we stick to a couple of light side strokes and a whole lot of sweet talk instead. French Fry seems like a very nice chap, and hopefully, after a few days settling in, he will open his heart and learn to trust that we humans are here to help, not hurt. If you can offer French Fry the patient, loving home he needs then please don’t delay, he’ll be waiting for you…
Another volunteer writes: Quiet in his kennel curled up on his bed, French Fry stood up gently as I unlatched his door. His leash manners are lovely, he’s a pleasure to walk and he may be housetrained using the “facilities” as soon as we were out the door. A bit shy, he approaches when he’s ready eventually laying his head in my lap for some petting. A dog in an adjoining pen gets an enthusiastic tail wag and in group play he greets politely. Mr. French Fry is looking for a new person or family to love, one who understands his need for a slow approach and soft touch. The reward for loving this handsome fellow will be, of course, his unconditional love in return. Win Win don’t you think?
