A Little Bit About Me…

A volunteer writes: A pint size, tail waggy delight, that’s our Francine. She has a way of sitting on her bed in her kennel, watching the activity passing in front of her that immediately makes you fall in love. She looks deep in thought, and I’d love to give her a penny for those thoughts. I fell in love with her in two seconds as her tail wags as we walk, shows off her sit for a treat which she takes super gently. Off leash in a pen she does little bunny hops as her tail wags, running after a toy and it’s beyond adorable. Francine is a go with the flow kind of a pup, whatever you want to to do is fine with her as long as you’re doing it together. Gentle, low key, and so very sweet, I would scoop her up in a NY minute if I could, but you lucky adopter gets that chance. Don’t pass this sweet girl by, she’s ready to be your wingman forever and ever.

Let’s get to know each other a bit more…

Profile :
MOP came in to surrender a dog he found in a vacant apartment. The client says that the apartment is located in his friend’s building and they do not know what happened to the owner. The client says the dog has been in the apartment by herself for a few days so he decided to take her home. Once home, Francine tried to play with his small breed dog but his dog was not getting along with her. The client says he reached out to friends and family members, hoping someone could give her a home but no one was able to and since his dog was not friendly with her, he said it was unfair for her to remain in his home. Francine scanned negative for a microchip. The client was advised of the three possible outcomes of adoption, rescue placement, or humane euthanasia based on behavioral or medical concerns.

My medical notes are…

Details on my behavior are…

Date of assessment: 3-Dec-2017
Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. Allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, eyes are averted, and tail is in neutral position with a relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive when touched. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends (may need coaxing to approach). Dog is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor.
Paw squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw.
Paw squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw.
Flank squeeze 1: Item not conducted
Flank squeeze 2: Item not conducted
Toy: 1. No interest.
Summary: Francine approached the assessor in the assessment room with a soft body. She was a bit distracted at times, sniffing around the room, but allowed all handling and displayed no concerning behaviors.
Summary (1): 12/3: When introduced off leash to the male greeter dog, Francine is tolerant of approach but keeps mostly to herself.
Summary (2): 12/4: Francine keeps mostly to herself.
12/5: Francine offers brief greeting to male and female dogs. She mounts a select dog whilst growling.
Summary (3): 12/6: Francine mostly keeps to herself.
Date of intake: 2-Dec-2017
Summary: Upon intake, Francine had a loose and wiggly body and allowed all handling.
ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Francine so we cannot be certain of her behavior in a home environment. In the care center, she displays a medium level of activity.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: AVERAGE (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)
