ENERGY LEVEL:: We have no history on Folgers so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. However, he is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. Potential challenges: : Resource guarding,Fearful/potential for defensive aggression
Potential challenges comments:: Resource guarding: Folgers’ has displayed a very high level of resource guarding at the care center, biting the finger off the assess-a-hand when it touched the toy he was in possession of. For this reason we advise against ever removing items from Folgers’ possession without safely trading for an item or greater or equal value. Guidance from a professional trainer/behaviorist is highly recommended to aid in safely managing/modifying this behavior in a new home environment. Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: Folger’s became fearful during his assessment and hard barked at the assessor. Due to the behavior displayed in shelter, the behavior department recommends an experienced adult home only until he can acclimate to his new home environment for the behavior to be further assessed. Consultation with a professional trainer/behaviorist is advised; force-free, reward based training only is recommended.
