DVM Intake Exam; Estimated age: ~8-10 years; Microchip noted on Intake? negative; History : stray ; Subjective: BARH; Observed Behavior – very sweet. Easily handleable. Did well for all medical handling and procedures; Evidence of Cruelty seen – yes; Objective ; P = wnl ; R = eupneic ; BCS 5/9; EENT: Eyes clear with nuclear sclerosis, ears have moderate yellow waxy debris and lichenification of canals, no nasal discharge noted; Oral Exam: adult dentition with mild tartar, no oral lesions noted; PLN: No enlargements noted; H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupneic; ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated; U/G: FI, no MGTs, no vulvar d/c, edematous vulva; MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, severely matted haircoat with flaky, lichenified, pruritic skin, yeasty odor, overgrown nails; CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities; Assessment: Matted with severe dermatitis; Otitis externa; Geriatric; Nuclear sclerosis; Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC; Gave dexamethasone 1mg SQ once; Start simplicef 10mg/kg PO SID x7d until 4/18-recheck; Start gentizol AU BID x7d until 4/18; Will shave, give medicated bath, and clean ears tomorrow; Prognosis: Good, will likely need longterm treatment; SURGERY: temporary waiver due to dermatitis
