09/13/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Strangers are only strangers in that second before we’ve made friends — that’s what Daisy told me! Tail wagging and smiling, she’s happy to see new people, get in some petting and go for a walk. Her person left her with a friend and never came back for her, so Daisy is now in our care looking for a new home. Happy to be outside for the opportunity to go potty, she pulls slightly on the leash as we head to the park. She’s jaunty in her step, her tail wags as we go, and in her opinion, squirrels and birds are fun! Daisy has spots of alopecia throughout her body, but better nutrition should clear that up quickly. Off leash, she loved playing with a tennis ball, bringing it to me to snuggle with, and let me take it out of her mouth. Wagging her tail at a female dog through the gate, she may do better with females than with males, as it’s clear she’s been a mom a couple of times, although as a solo she might do best. Daisy is hoping there is someone out there to provide the love and good nutrition she’s missing. Is that you?

Daisy came into our center after being abandoned with owner’s friend. It is reported she lunged and growled at children that passed by in Caretaker’s home. Behavior around cats is unknown. 09/11/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
09/11/16 When introduced off leash to another dog in the care center, Daisy is initially a bit tense and uncomfortable. She displays slight ‘whale eye’ when approached. She attempts to avoid interaction, however has not yet offered correction when uncomfortable. Daisy arrived into our care as a stray, so there is no available history of previous interaction with other dogs. The behavior team feels that Daisy should be allowed time to acclimate to life outside the shelter environment as the only resident dog, before following up on her behavior around them.
