01/30/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: The Urban Dictionary defines Farzana as: “The most amazing, brilliant, sexy girl in the world. A girl that can make your head spin, heart skip a beat, and legs give out from under you”. OK – I’ll go with that as I fell in love with this little tan peanut. She’s tiny, well groomed, soft and easy, likely housetrained, pulls slightly on leash but no biggie, sits as soon as she sees the camera and takes treats gently. She’s been well taken care of, her coat is clean and groomed, her weight perfect for her size and she loved draping herself in my lap for some snuggling and kisses. Briefly playing with a plush toy, Farzana was more interested in snuggling than playing and I was happy to oblige her. Quiet and calm she’s figuring out this new place and doing it with grace and good will. Of course, we don’t want her to figure it out – we want her to go home with you and find her place there. So, come meet our petite sweetheart, she’ll steal a kiss and your heart.
01/30/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Farzana pulls a bit on the leash. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Farzana was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. She was not interested in toys. Farzana did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that she can go to an Average home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful but unresponsive when touched. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends. Dog is likely crouching, may have long lip or lip lick. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Toy 1: No interest.
01/30/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
When off leash with other dogs Farzana is assertive with the female helper dog; standing on her toes, hackles slightly raised and a high flagging tail. She offers correction when solicited. She entered the care center as a stray, so any in-home behaviors with other dogs are unknown. Based on these observations the behavior department recommends a pre-adoption interaction before placing her into a home with another dog.
