Fabian looks to me like a home buddy, a family dog who loves his hearth and his people and accepts whoever and whatever his flock welcomes. He was clearly loved and appreciated by his first owner who passed away and the second one who lost his home….Yes, we do know Fabian who comes and came with fabulous comments from his former masters and we would like, once and forever that this wonderful dog finds a permanent and loving home. Fabian looks very serious with his little pout and wondering big eyes. He likes my treats, hints at playing with a toy but seems a little subdued. He walks very nicely on the leash, does not mark at all his territory and meets other dogs in a civil way. His tail wags often . He so wants to find his bearings… In playgroups with his peers, he greets politely but clearly prefers calm and well mannered pooches. As I bring him back to his den, we meet the very person who assessed his behavior. “A friend!!!!” yep, that is what Fabian is thinking.. He rushes toward her for hugs and caresses. They are like 2 pals who have not seen each other in ages and are so happy to meet again…Handsome Fabian is really a very sweet dog, easy going, a great walker, house trained ,calm, affectionate and known to be quite playful(with children of all ages and adults). He is a proven family dog who dreams of only one thing….to hold again the job he had before… Come and meet our fabulous Fabian at the Manhattan Care Center !
Another Volunteer Wrote: “He’s such a good boy!” one kennel officer reported as I went to take him out. Sigh. He’s even better that—he’s a phenomenal boy.. Faithful, mellow, and unwaveringly kind, Fabian is a family dog through and through. His former owner, who surrendered him for personal reasons, reports it to be true (Fab lived with children of all ages), but his gentleness is clear in every moment. He is phenomenal on a leash; housetrained per his former owner and it sure seems to be true; he is kissing and loving and waggy-tailed but stoic when he needs to be, getting back into his kennel without complaint (although the face he gave us as we left was hard to bear.) In playgroup with other dogs, I was told he’s “a lazy kind of guy,” which is an A+ as far as we’re concerned when it comes to interactions with other dogs! Fabian used to follow his owner from room to room, and we are so eager for him to have another person to whom he might prove his devotion. Please, come meet Fabian. He deserves a life filled with love!

A volunteer writes: You wouldn’t know from looking at this frumpy little face that this is a tail wagging, affectionate snuggle muffin of a little boy! Joining us with his housemate Artem (A1033725) when their owner died, Fabian is trying to make the best out of a sad situation. He’s without his friends, both human and canine, in a strange place with lots of noise, light, barking dogs and activity. Quiet in his kennel he’s thrilled to be leashed and out we go. After immediately going potty once outside we’re off to the park, Fabian showing me fabulous leash manners. He’s so easy to walk I have the chance to admire his gorgeous markings, pet his soft fur and watch his tail wag as we make friends. Low key, calm and adorable he poses for some pictures in the park, not minding being tethered while he makes soft eye contact with his gorgeous hazel eyes. Off leash in the yard
he plays with a toy and it’s cute to watch him figure out exactly what he wants to do with it. He comes in for snuggles, first burying his head in my lap, and then enjoying a butt scratch, head in the air eyes closed….so sweet. In group play he interacts briefly, doing well with quiet females (he hasn’t been with males in group as of this writing). Compact, soft, gentle, easy, well mannered and snuggly all lead to acing his behavior assessment which comes as no surprise to those of us who know him. Someone is going to be very lucky to add this rockstar to their family. Will it be you? Ask to meet him today.
