Medical Summary 1/30/17 Sex: Male intact Scan: Negative Estimated age: 3-5 years based on dentition Fleas: No flea dirt. S: Tense, nervous, stares and watches everything. Reported to have nipped a few times in Admissions, but allows handling with towel during medical intake. O: BAR-H, BCS 5/9, MMs pink and moist EENT: No discharge OU, AU, nose. Gland of third eyelid OD pops out intermittently. Mild tartar and gingivitis, left maxillary canine is discolored (yellow). H/L: NSR, NMA. Eupnic, quiet lung sounds. Abd: Somewhat tense, no pain on palpation, no masses palpated M/S/I: Amb x4. Two wounds on dorsum – one small wound (1 cm dia) on the dorsal neck, one larger wound (irregular shape, 2 cm wide x 4 cm long) on midline in the thoracic region. Both wounds are dry, with a thin overlying red-black eschar. The fur grows normally right up to the edges of the eschars. UG: Male intact, testicles soft and symmetrical. A: 1. Wounds to dorsum – R/O thermal injury (burn, heating pad etc.) vs. chemical vs. other 2. Mild tartar, discolored tooth – R/O devitalized tooth vs. healthy but stained 3. Intermittent cherry eye (prolapsed gland of third eyelid) OD Short-term prognosis: Good SURGERY: Okay for surgery. P: 1. Recommend dental rads esp of left max canine tooth +/- extraction 2. Monitor wounds – no treatment right now but they may need treatment in the future. 3. Monitor cherry eye – recommend surgical replacement into its pocket. 1088
