04/23/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/23/17 14:27 Essie came in as a stray when she was jogging around the block and got spotted by one of the neighbors. When finder approached her she wagged her whole body and tried to kiss finder. She allowed finder to bring to her home and she was kept in the basement of building. Essie used the bathroom in the builing and only interacted with finders but saw finders dog and got excited and started wagging her tail. She did not destroy any household items and did not bark much but she did whine through out the night when left alone. She would try to follow finder through the door instead of being kept by herself Essie entered shelter with a loose body and tongue lolling. When she saw counselor approaching she wagged her tail and her whole back half with rigor. When scanning Essie she rubbed up against counselor and then rolled onto her back and allowed counselor to scan and pet her tummy. She allowed al handling for rest of intake.
05/04/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: When I was first introduced to Essie I couldn’t help but declare that she was the cutest thing ever! And after spending time with her I can declare that she’s among the sweetest, too! She is a shiny black ray of sunshine! She is doe-eyed, super wiggly and embodies a puppy-like innocence. She is one of those dogs that sees a BFF in every stranger and thinks every time is a good time to give stand up hugs and lots of kisses (but “gets it” if they aren’t welcomed). Among her most endearing habits is how she submissively rolls over and stays for waggy belly rubs…soo sweet! She has been easy to walk on leash, seems to have some housetraining, knows “sit”, and has enjoyed gentle play with other dogs in our playgroups. She likes plushy toys, dances in her cage for attention, and is just a doll in every way! Unfortunately she’s always either glued to my hip or on her back so capturing her cuteness in a photo has proven to be a challenge…you have to come see her in person at Brooklyn ACC!
