I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 04/10/2016 from NY 10458, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

04/10/16 10:44 BASIC INFO Ernesto A1069876 is an Yorkie Mix. He is being surrendered to the shelter because he was found inside of finder’s building. Finder cannot keep. Finder kept Ernesto in between 2 doorways to her apartment where he did potty on the floor. he was fed puppy chow dog food. finder stated that he would growl when they got close to him. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE Ernesto lunged and growled during scanning for microchip and while trying to remove collar.

Ernesto was a bit difficult to remove from his kennel barking and charging trough the kennel. Ernesto doesn’t allow the behavior team to collar him he became very still and rigid. Ernesto snarls and air snapped at the handler. The behavior team decided to place him back in his kennel for the safe of the dog and the handler. Due to the behavior demonstrated in the shelter the behavior department believes that Ernesto is not an appropriate candidate for SAFER at this time.
04/13/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY

When off leash with other dogs, Ernesto is tense while in the yard. He mostly keeps to himself. 4/14 update: Ernesto approaches and briefly greets other calm dogs.
