KNOWN HISTORY: None 3/28/17 Unaltered Female, Stray Other notes: Upon intake Emma was friendly and allowed all handling. SAFER ASSESSMENT: 3/30/17 Look:1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity:1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1:1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 1:1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Toy 1: Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Summary: Emma was friendly and affectionate towards the assessor, she displayed no concerns. DOG-DOG INTERACTION ASSESSMENT: Summary PLAYGROUP: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Emma displays neutral body language and avoids greeting a novel male dog. 03/29/17 History – Stray dog, no medical concerns noted. Microchip scan pos. #981020019757398 (this is the microchip that was implanted at BACC yesterday). Subjective Observed Behavior – Calm, friendly, allows all handling. Evidence of Cruelty seen – No. Evidence of Trauma seen – No. Objective: BARH. mm=pink, moist, CRT<2 s. P = 88 R = 20 BCS = 5/9 ORAL: Good dental condition, no oral lesions. EENT: No oculonasal discharge, no sneezing. Ears clean AU. PLN: No enlargements noted. H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupneic. ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated. U/G: Female, mild vulvar enlargement with staw colored discharge. No OVH scar. MS: Ambulatory x 4, no lameness. INTEG: Mild mammary enlargement with very prominent nipples. No mammary masses palpable, no mild expressed. Several scratches and healing wounds over head and base of inner right ear. Painful AD in area of wounds, has mild swelling but no discharge. CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities. A: Approx. 2 yr old unspayed female, may be in early heat. Healing wounds on face with one area of pain AD associated with wound. Otherwise apparently healthy. P: Rabies vaccine. Start Rimadyl 100 mg PO q 24 hours x 5 days. Start Cephalexin 500 mg. 1 PO BID x 7 days. OK for OVH. Excellent prognosis.
