A volunteer updates: Elli is back with us as her new owners, unexpectedly, had to move to a place not allowing dogs. Elli has not changed a bit. She is not even a pound less, which would have been great. She is still the high spirited, jolly and opinionated gal who will not let her thoughts unheard. If she was a human, she would be a suffragette, a porte parole for unfair causes. Elli know what is right and what is wrong. Unfortunately, she is a dog and we are the ones who will have to be her advocate and match her with the perfect adopter.
Another volunteer writes: Elli is a 4 year old girl who has the best smile. Yes, dogs can smile, and it is one of the most wonderful sites. And Elli’s smile takes the cake. Well, if you asked Elli, she would say it probably takes the treat because she really, really likes treats. She also really likes her human friends and is happy to see us when we stop by her cage. She walks wonderfully on a leash and loves exploring the park. She was a big fan of watching kids play Little League. When she’s not enjoying America’s favorite past time. Ellli loves being cute and a big sweetheart. Elli is looking for her forever home. Will you consider helping her be a furry companion? Come on down and meet this great girl for yourself!

PROFILE :
Elli is a friendly and outgoing pup towards strangers. She’s spent time around kids of all ages and is relaxed and playful with them. Elli plays exuberantly with both adults and children (mainly because of her size). She lived with a German Shepherd/Collie mix and spends time around dogs of all sizes and is relaxed and plays exuberantly with them. She has never bitten another animal or human.
During loud noises such a fireworks, Elli is nervous and barks. She isn’t bothered when her food bowl or treats are taken away and thinks her owner is trying to play when it’s a toy being taken. When pulled off of furniture, she gets down. She isn’t bothered when restrained from something she wants or when awoken from her slumber. She loves baths and getting brushed but will gently grab her owner’s hand when he’s trying to clip her nails. She isn’t bothered when new people approach her home or owner and will become friendly if she has a good feeling about them.
Elli’s owner describes her as friendly, affectionate, playful, alert, and protective but not aggressive. She has a high activity level and when she’s ready to play enjoys playing fetch (but not always bringing back) balls, tug with leash, and chewing on bones and stuffed animals. Her owner loves how much she talks, loves going outside and watching squirrels from the window. When he’s home, Elli follows him around or hangs out in the same room. She’s been kept mostly indoors and sleeps in her owner’s bed with him. Elli is very house-trained and rarely ever has accidents. She enjoys going potty outside on grass. When left alone in her home, she is very well-behaved and has never been crate-trained. She knows sit and loves going on long, brisk walks on and off leash. When she’s on leash she pulls very hard but when off leash will wander some but will come back when her owner calls her. Elli eats Pedigree adult dry food, one cup in the morning, and two cups at night with a half can of Alpo wet food.
On intake, Elli barked a lot. She sat when asked to and counselor was able to collar her. She sat nicely for pictures and kept trying to climb up onto the counselor.
