03/19/16 19:50 Basic Info: Luckie Luck A1066440 is a 6month old male brown brindle & white AMPBT mix who was given to the owner from the previous owner as a tiny pup & is being surrendered due to him being too hyper. Luckie Luck was last seen by a veterinarian 2wks ago and currently has no known health issues. Socialization: Around strangers Luckie Luck is very friendly/outgoing. He’s spent time with neighborhood kids who love him and he was gentle, exuberant, very playful & somewhat rough with them (during play he doesn’t know his strength) also with the adult in the home. Luckie Luck hasn’t lived with other animals and when he spots a dog on the streets he barks excitedly and pulls the owner towards them at times. Luckie Luck has never bitten/scratched any person or animal. Behavior: Luckie Luck is a very hyper & excited boy. During storms/fireworks he’ll bark. Luckie Luck isn’t bothered by the following: having his food/food bowl, toys/treats touched/moved, being disturbed while sleeping/resting. Luckie Luck hasn’t been brushed or had his nails trimmed. During baths Luckie Luck attempts to jump out the tub. If someone approaches the home/family member he’ll excitedly bark & jumps on them to greet them & play. For A New Family to Know: Luckie Luck is very friendly, affectionate, very playful, confident, & excitable with a very high activity level. The owner likes how friendly he is. Luckie Luck enjoys playing with ball, squeaky, rope toys and games of fetch & tug. He’s mostly an indoor only dog who sleeps on linen & is walked 2-4x a day where he pulls strongly on his leash. Luckie Luck eats dry dog Pedigree food 2x a day and likes any kind of dog treats. Luckie Luck’s known commands are “sit”, “stay” & “come” that he doesn’t always listen to. Intake Behavior: Luckie Luck allowed all handling. He was very wiggly and seemed to enjoy hugs and being on your lap. Luckie Luck allowed to be scanned (+), collared & taken pictures of. Luckie Luck was then coaxed into his kennel with sweet talk and some treats. He began playing with a rope toy that was inside awaiting him.

A volunteer writes: Getting a puppy is on many people’s wish list….It probably should remain a wish for many….Bringing up a puppy..is not easy….and this is why, we are seeing so often five to ten month old youngsters in shelters across the country. Like children, puppies, to grow up to be wonderful adults and blend nicely within the family, need an” iron hand in a velvet glove”, patience, time, commitment and lots of love…It is not for everybody….We all have our limitations even if we have the desire to do more. I love puppies but I fostered or adopted only older pets as I do not have the time and energy to deal with babes…LuckieLuck is good example of what I was talking about…Acquired as a tiny “bean”, he grew up to be a handful, too excitable and active for the owner’s lifestyle. Luckie Luck comes with great comments, though. Wonderful with kids, very affectionate and playful, appears to be house trained and free of handling issues. He has been beautifully cared for and is a plump and healthy dumpling dressed in the most gorgeous and well groomed coat. He looks part Boxer but I am told that he counts American Bulldog genes in his pedigree. He really owns a gorgeous face and his body reminds me of a marble sculpture…. A bit shy in his kennel, Luckie Luck finds quickly his bearings in a pen with me. He is one playful little boy! His first task is to do his business. He comes right away when I call him, jumps or sits for treats and lights up at the sight of a tennis ball. He is a fireball himself, life in person. He is affectionate too and enjoys caresses while he is laying on the ground, savoring his ball. I am in awe, looking at him, playing with all his soul or resting peacefully in the sun…. Well, I like LuckieLuck ! His beauty, his serious and determined look, his liveliness and his youth…He can be mouthy, pushy and carried away with play but does listen to a firm : NO! LuckieLuck , our little boy, would love a new master but also a teacher who will tell him about boundaries and all the Good things that make a Good dog and pet… Come and meet him soon at the Manhattan Care Center.

He was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. Luckie Luck was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He mouthed without applying pressure during the paw item. Luckie Luck took the toy with a soft body language. Luckie Luck is very friendly, affectionate, very playful, confident, & excitable with a very high activity level. The owner likes how friendly he is. Luckie Luck isn’t bothered having his food/food bowl, toys/treats touched/moved”. Luckie Luck appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. The behavior department feels that he can go to an experience home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 2.
