08/31/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Eden is a little slice of paradise. She might be a little shy at first, but she is sweeter than pie! She was a little hesitant to come out of her cage when I first met her, but as soon as she did, she propped her paws up on me and softly wagged her tail. She is petite, has the cutest face, and you’ll want to kiss each of her freckly spots! She is very easy to handle (and even her walk is cute), has been interested in other dogs we’ve seen out on walks, and seems to have housetraining. When I take her off leash in the yard she peeks her head through the space between the seat and armrest of the bench before putting her paws on my lap and giving me kisses! She loves to play with toys and will bound after them when I throw one, and then proceed into zoomie mode. She is such a gentle, sweet, fun girl…come scoop her up at Brooklyn ACC!
08/26/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Eden was brought in to our care centers as a stray; any past behavior in a home is unknown. Upon entering the assessment room, Eden is a bit timid but quickly warms up to her handlers displaying social behavior. Eden allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue, throughout the assessment she repeatedly leaned into the handler, wanting to stay close and would solicit attention. During the resource portion of the assessment, she showed minimal interest. Eden displayed no concern during her assessment, the behavior department believes she is suitable for an Average adopter; slow approach as she is initially timid. Force-free, reward based training is advised before introduction/exposure to new and unfamiliar situations to help Eden succeed. Look: 1. Dog leans forward or jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, or low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1 /2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy: 1. No interest. Dog-to-dog: Eden is a bit nervous as she greets a calm, female dog. She relaxes as the session continues and solicits gentle play. She displays bouncy body language and engages in gentle play with a playful male.

**Social Greeter Dog** Eden was surrendered as a stray so her past behavior around other dogs is unknown. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Eden was initially nervous. With further playgroup sessions, Eden becomes more relaxed, engaging and soliciting gentle play. She is tolerant of dogs that begin to growl at her. She is utilized as a greeter dog and greets new dogs displaying loose and wiggly body language. She is tolerant of high energy, sloppy play. The Behavior Department recommends that Eden be placed in a home with a dog that matches her gentle play style. 8/25: Eden is nervous as she greets the other dog with a tense face. She mostly keeps to herself as she explores the pen, tolerating the other dog’s greeting. 8/26: Eden is a bit nervous as she greets a calm, female dog.
