03/26/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper dog: A1067857 Dutchess previously lived with 1 adult and has spent time with a 15 year old. The owner stated Dutchess is playful and gentle towards the 15 year old. It was reported by the owner Dutchess also destroys items in the home such as shoes and hangers. The owner describes Dutchess as playful and rough. The owner mentioned Dutchess is partially house trained and has a high activity level. At intake it was reported Dutchess had loose body posture, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Dtuchess came into the assessment room with high energy, she was friendly and playful towards the assessor but can be rough with play. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Dutchess follows the handler, mouths the leash and jumps high off the ground during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Dutchess was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Due to some concerns Dutchess was fixated with the leash during the assessment; she was also rope reactive wit tag item and would slowly de-escalate. The previous owner stated she pulls very strongly on the leash and difficult to control. Dutchess is quick to use her mouth in play and has poor body awareness, resulting in her mouthing handlers with light pressure, so the behavior department feels she can be suitable for an experience adopter with no young children. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog follows with loose body posture, mouths the leash, jumps high off the ground and slowly de-escalates. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, and lip neutral.
