Playful and energertic dog.
01/30/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Shhhh…Don’t tell Duncan that he’s middle-aged because this handsome hunk is convinced he’s still a puppy! He’s bouncy, he’s playful and he looks like a million bucks and change, a stunning example of what makes the Lab America’s favorite dog year after year. Yes, he’s also very goofy and highly energetic, a grabber of treats and a puller of leashes but frankly, if you’re not looking for a whole lotta fun then you’re not looking for Duncan! You’ll always find him on the move and eager to explore but he seems very house trained, sits and comes on command and enjoys a bit of ball play (zero guarding!) and plenty of petting too. Until the day their family encountered personal issues and wasn’t able to care for them any longer, Duncan lived in happy harmony with his four-legged brother Poe (A1063625) and it’s clear he loves to socialize and rough house with pretty much any species at any time. Age is just a number and all Duncan knows is how to be young at heart. Can he count on you for a forever home and a lifetime of love?

Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, ears back, low wagging tail. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. No interest. Playgroup Notes: Duncan engages in play with the helper dog with intent to mount her.
01/27/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Duncan greets other dogs (male and female) politely but is high strung. He whine, bounces around the pen and stands on his toes. He corrects when mounted by a male but then will persistently attempt to mount a female (he is currently unaltered); engaging in some play. He came from a home with another male but he entered the care center as a stray, so his in-home behaviors with that dog are unknown. Based on these observations, the behavior department recommends a pre-adoption interaction before being placed into a home with another dog. When off leash with other dogs Duncan is high-strung–standing on his toes, bouncing around the pen and whining. He corrects when mounted by a male but will then continusously attempt to mount that male. 1/28 update: Duncan engages in play with the helper dog with intent to mount her.
