03/12/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Duke is the perfect definition of a dumpling..He is still a babe at 9 months of age, toasty, delicious, plump and so lively..He has the most gorgeous eyes, cattle dog’s ears and a lovely chocolate pout that I cannot help but kissing… This golden nugget is so cute in his shiny coat, trotting happily in the street or though the yard, tail wagging non stop and a lovely smile on his face. He is very sociable and friendly and rewarded his finder with a lot of affection. Duke can sit on command and for treats. He is one playful chap and can take gentle wrestling, a tag game and a chase…No mouthiness, no craziness, just sheer pleasure…He is game for whatever you might have in store for him. He is a youngster of course and likes to have fun. With his peers, boys and girls, Duke enjoys his time very much and engages in bouncy play. He eliminates in the yard or the street but I cannot say for sure that he is house trained. Duke will be a really nice companion and forever best friend. Some fine tuning will be needed of course to adjust his needs to yours and end up with the perfect match. … Lovely Duke is at the Manhattan Care Center, dreaming of his new life with you.
03/10/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE

Duke pulls a bit on the leash. He was a bit excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up, licked hands. Duke during handling had a soft body language. He easily engages in play during the tag interaction, body is loose and wiggly, mouth open. Duke took the toy away but had soft body language. Duke did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that he can go to an Average home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. 03/08/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Duke engages in running play with males and females. He makes attempts to mount both males and females throughout play. At times Duke is slow to take corrction for pushy puppy play. The behavior department recommends that he may be placed into a home with a dog that engages in a similar rough play style. He arrived into our care as a stray so in-home behavior around dogs remains unknown. When off leash with other dogs, Duke is a bit sexually motivated but begins to engage in soft play. 3/9 update: Duke engages in bouncy play with other dogs. 3/10 update: Duke is social and playful with males and females. He is tolerant of mounting and will also mount during play. 3/11 update: Duke continues to engage in bouncy running play with males and females. He does offer correction to a male that continuously jumps on his back and mouths him. 3/13 update: Duke engages in running play with a female dog, but intermittently does attempt to mount. Duke is tense when greeting a larger male dog, but engages in play when solicited. When solicited by a male dog with a more exuberant play style, Duke offers a vocal correction. 3/14 update: Duke engages in play, but may mount during play.
