KNOWN HISTORY: N/A Intact, Stray SAFER ASSESSMENT: 11/03/16 Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 3. Dog stands tall and square. His tail perpendicular to spine, mouth closed for the majority of assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach). He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1/2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed or back. Toy: 1. No interest Summary: Drake was uncomfortable throughout the assessment, appearing anxious/aloof and was constantly seeking exit. PLAYGROUP: 11/5: When off leash with male and female dogs Drake engages in bouncy running play. He will engage in games of chase and offers paw slaps. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 10/29/16 During his initial medical examination, Drake did not tolerate any form of handling or direct touch as he displayed all appropriate warning signals. ENERGY LEVEL: RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience _X_No children (under 13)(See potential challenges) Potential challenges: _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression (Drake has been observed to display fearful behavior during his stay at our care centers; at times will avoid interaction and shy away from direct-touch. Drake easily startles and is made uncomfortable by loud noises and sudden movement and will display proper warning signals as well as increase distance from anything that may present a threat. We cannot be certain if any other behavior is suppressed as a result of his environment. A period of decompression is advised before introduction or exposure to new and unfamiliar situations.
