04/26/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: With the cutest ears that look like little wings framing a gorgeous face, Dougg had an admirer in me right away. And with one look at his walking log filled with compliments from other volunteers, I knew I would be in for a nice time with my new friend. Showing off his housetraining skills the moment we were outside, he then shows off his nice leash manners, only pulling when he senses the next greatest sniff he must get to in a hurry! Wagging his tail at several big dogs we passed on our way to the park, we stop for some photos, Dougg posing adorably, showing me his ‘sit’, and ‘shake paw’. He loves treats and became my bestie when he knew that treats were on the way as soon as he sat. So smart and cute! Squirrels were fun to watch but had no serious interest other than a passing glance as we sat on the bench together for some cuddle time. Kisses, you want kisses? I’ve got kisses! Dougg wears a shiny black coat, his white markings strategically placed to make him oh so handsome, his weight perfect for his size, and his lovely personality complete the package. He’s hoping you’ll ask to meet him when you visit. Watch him show of his “sit” and “shake paw” by copy-pasting this link to your browser bar– https://youtu.be/RQ9dEhqWdb4
04/24/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Dougg was found by a member of the public as a stray so behaviors in the home are unknown. He barked loudly at admissions counselor’s upon intake. Dougg was friendly upon entering SAFER assessment room, whined to solicit attention. He held gaze for three full seconds during Look item, soft. Dougg leaned into assessor during Sensitivity item, mouth closed, ears back. He playfully ran and jumped along during Tag game, settled easily at end. Dougg gently pulled his paw back on both Squeeze attempts, mouthed assessor’s hand with no pressure. He playfully and enthusiastically engaged with Toy, tossing it around the room, keeping a firm grip with loose body when approached. When off leash with other dogs, Dougg is a bit tense upon entering the pen, hypersalivating and whining. The Behavior Team feels Dougg would do best with an Experienced adopter. He may benefit from a slow approach/slow introduction so he can relax and know what to expect in his new home. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body.
