12/04/2014 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper Dog:A0928314 Lamar was extremely excitable, and was more interested in the surroundings than the handler during the assessment. He was overexcited during handling, jumping up, and was hard to position, but showed no aggression. Lamar was also distracted and focused on objects rather than the handler during the tag interaction. He did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. Lamar was easy to handle when chewing on toys and rawhides, and he rushed in quickly toward the helper dog during the dog-dog test, but showed no aggression. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog is active and focused on the Assessor and all other stimuli available. His body is soft, and panting, displayed high movement between attempts. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (needed coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog quickly pulls his paw back. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog gently places his open mouth over the Assessor’s hand without applying pressure. Food: 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away or push him out. Toy 1: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is between you and the toy, and he is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog may smell and lick, then turns away. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches the helper dog, body soft, tail well above spine level, ears forward. With other dogs off-leash, Lamar greets politely, body oriented to the side. He is playful with females. He has not been as comfortable interacting with other male dogs: when approached, he tenses and slowly increases his distance from the other dog by moving away. He has not escalated or aggressed.
