03/31/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
03/31/16 21:25 Dizzles is a 7 year old male Chihuahua. He was born at home. His owner surrendered him due to landlord conflict. Dizzles is friendly with some strangers and bites others. He bit a person two days ago without breaking skin. He lived with 2 other dogs, including his father, and may have fought with his father. He wasn’t friendly with strange dogs outside. Dizzles was tense and sometimes shivered during intake while his owners held him and while I pet him, held him, leashed him, collared him, scanned him (-), positioned him for pictures, and walked him. On the counter, he tried to climb back onto my chest/shoulder.

04/04/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Dizzles is not thriving in the shelter setting. He allowed all SAFER items without aggressing but has been noted to lunge and snap when approached in his kennel. His previous owner notes a bite history. Due to the behaviors observed and witnessed we recommend an experienced adopter, preferably experienced with Dizzles’s breed, and a home without children. 4/2 SAFER assessment: Dizzles walks with a low fearful body language on leash. She was fearful and repeatedly attempted to get away from the handler during the assessment. Dizzles was shy during handling with a fearful body language. She was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Dizzles was not interested in toys. The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter. Dizzles is fearful and needs time to warm up to the handler. We also recommend a home without young children. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is stiff and fearful; her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, shy body language , mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) she is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy 1. No interest.
