11/07/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
11/07/16 14:45 Basic Info: Diva A1096154 is a 7yr old female brown brindle & white AMPBT mix who was born at home and is being surrendered along with her brother Pepe A1096153 due to the owner’s apartment being too small and overcrowded. They were both last seen by a veterinarian a few years ago and Pepe currently has no known health issues/injuries. Diva appears to have a small wound on her left hip (unkown cause). Socialization: Around strangers Diva is shy for a few minutes. She’s lived with a 4 & 5yr olds and was gentle, exuberant, relaxed, playful (she’s a big dog and can be a little rough which causes her to knock them down) with them also the adults in the home & Pepe. Diva has never bitten/scratched any person or animal. According to the owner Diva & Pepe don’t like cats; they’ll bark and or lunge at them. Behavior: Diva isn’t bothered by the following: having her food/food bowl, toys/treats touched/moved, being moved off of furniture, being brushed or being disturbed while sleeping/resting. For bath time Diva (& Pepe) will sit in the tub. She hasn’t had her nails trimmed. If someone approaches the home/family member Diva will bark and or jump on the person(s) for attention/affection. For A New Family to Know: Diva is friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, mellow, excitable & independent with a low-high activity level. The owner likes everything about Diva and Diva enjoys sleeping/playing. She enjoys squeaky toys and games of fetch & tug (at times). Diva is mostly an indoor only dog who sleeps on a dog bed & is walked 2x a day where she pulls lightly on her leash (she’ll whine/bark to let you know she wants/needs to go out). Diva eats dry Pedigree dog food 2x a day and also human food. When left home alone Diva is well behaved and housebroken. She understands “sit”, “stay” & “go” in Spanish. Intake Behavior: Diva appeared uncomfortable with me approaching her until Pepe let me approach him. She allowed to be scanned (-), collared & taken pictures (with assistance from the owner). Diva was then lifted into the kennel which she didn’t seem to mind.
11/11/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Diva and her brother Pepe were brought to us as their family could not accomodate 2 large dogs anymore in a too tight apartment. They were born at home and grew up to be awesome family dogs. Besides not being cat lovers, Diva and Pepe come with outstanding comments. Diva is a bit shy initially with strangers but warms up quickly. She is welcoming to visitors, loves her human siblings, is housetrained, devoid of any handling issues or guarding, a good girl when alone in the house, playful, affectionate–all the good stuff we want to hear and want to have when we adopt a new pet. Diva seems very attached to her brother Pepe (not that she could not start a new page in her life without him). She comes quickly forward when she sees me at her door and is leashed easily. Although in the greatest shape, she walks slowly, but does perk up at the sight of children coming out of a school. She accepts caresses and is not interested in my treats. I am hoping, though, that with many walks, lots of love from volunteers and the enrichment staff, beautiful Diva will perk up and show us all her hidden treasures. Diva has been beautifully cared for. She looks healthy, is perfectly groomed and dressed in a lovely shiny coat. I love her sweet madonna face and her still bright chesnut eyes. Diva will shine again, I know it…in your hands. She is a beautiful dame inside out. Come and meet her soon at the Manhattan Care Center and make her yours.
Another volunteer writes: Though I can’t speak of her singing ability, Miss Diva lives up to her name’s meaning of “goddess” because she truly is out of this world! Diva is a 7 year old gal who walks beautifully on a leash and who loves exploring the park and spending time with her human friends. She’s a calm, patient girl, who walks with confidence, but who would still every now and then sweetly look behind her to make sure I was still with her. Diva is easy to handle, and I have to say, easy to love. If you are looking for a superstar to grace your home, Diva is the one for you!
