Assessment: minor dental disease. Prognosis:good Plan:dental in future

Basic Information:Diggie is an 8 year old, small mixed breed male who was neutered prior to coming into the shelter. He has no known health issues or injuries and has not seen a vet recently. Diggie was adopted from a shelter 7 years ago and was surrendered due to health complications with the owner.
Previously lived with:1 Adult, 1 cat
How is this dog around strangers?Diggie is shy for a few minutes when meeting new people. He will alert bark and then needs time to adjust before calming down and relaxing.
How is this dog around children?Diggie has spent time around young children and is selective on his preference. Some children he is relaxed around while others he will growl and keep his distance. The owner stated he would do best in a home with older or no children.
How is this dog around other dogs?Diggie has interacted with other dogs and was indifferent towards them.
How is this dog around cats?Diggie has lived with a cat and was relaxed and respectful around her.
Resource guarding:Diggie has no resource guarding behavior reported by the owner.

Other Notes:Diggie’s owner has taken him to the groomer to be bathed and brushed, but has also done so herself. Diggie is not bothered by being pushed off the furniture or if he is disturbed while sleeping. Diggie will alert bark when someone approaches the house or yard.
Has this dog ever had any medical issues?NoFor a New Family to KnowDiggie is described as being mellow, shy and aloof. He has been an indoor dog, likes to follow his family around when they are home, and plays with all kinds of toys. Diggie eats dry food and sleeps either in or under the owners bed. Diggie is house trained to go outside on any surface and only has accidents inside if he is not let out in time. He knows the commands sit, come, up, down and paw. Diggie walks both on and off leash for exercise.
Behavior Notes:Diggie was tense during intake and hid under the owners chair. He was whale eyeing counselor, owner conducted handling.
