05/04/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Diffany previously lived with 1 adult and another dog. The owner stated Diffany is curious and plays gentle with adults and the other dog she lived with in the household. The owner mentioned Diffany is house trained, crate trained and does well for a few hours, has a high activity level and well behaved when home alone in her cage. At intake it was reported Diffany was very excited and anxious, she did allow all handling. During SAFER Diffany came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly and social towards the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Diffany joins the game during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Diffany was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Diffany greets at the gate with high energy and play bows. Once in the pen, she solicits play. Her play style is vocal and she is mouthy, grabbing the other dog’s legs and neck. She also mounts and growls while on top of the greeter dog. Diffany is a play skill novice that may be prone to tipping if engages in high energy play. The behavior department feels she can be suitable for an experience adopter and we recommend a thorough dog to dog interaction before being place into a permanent home. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Dog-dog: Diffany greets at the gate with high energy and play bows. Once in the pen, she solicits play. Her play style is vocal and she is mouthy, grabbing the other dog’s legs and neck. She also mounts and growls while on top of the greeter dog. Diffany is a play skill novice that may be prone to tipping if engages in high energy play.
05/02/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Diffany’s previous owner reported that she has not had any experience with other dogs. When off leash at the Care Center, she approaches and greets the helper dog with high energy, and a wiggly body. Diffany engages in rough, push and pull play with body slams and vocalizations. Her arousal increases, and she leaps onto the helper dog while growling. It was unclear if she became frustrated because the helper dog was not reciprocating play or if she was unable to deescalate her own arousal levels. 5/4: Diffany greets at the gate with high energy and play bows. Once in the pen, she solicits play. Her play style is vocal and she is mouthy, grabbing the other dog’s legs and neck. She also mounts and growls while on top of the greeter dog. Diffany is a play skill novice that may be prone to tipping if she engages in high energy play.
