04/04/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: “Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle.” That’s Diesel’s theme song, alright. Less powerhouse engine and more the little engine could, 1 year-old Diesel was surrendered to our care for the oft-used “personal problem.” Such a young boy so full of light and life, he himself knows no problems at all. He is like a firefly on a late-August evening, darting about from corner to corner of the yard, jumping up on a bench and quickly down again. Time and time again he rushes up to me and throws his legs across mine. “Let’s play!” He is long-limbed and lithe with a tail nearly the length of his body. All the better to wag with! His coat is snowy white like a dove save for one painted brown ear and a splash of freckles across his nose. But he’s not all about looks. Despite his young age, little Diesel’s seems to have had considerable schooling. He sits for treats and knows “stay” and “come.” He walks surprisingly well on leash (a firefly on a string) and appears to be housebroken. Of course his favorite thing second only to play is a good butt-scratch. Find the right spot and he’ll be yours forever. And how lucky you would be. Diesel, summer’s firefly, is waiting in adoptions at Manhattan’s ACC.

Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Diesel engages in running play with males and females during off leash socializatio- mostly running chase play. Previous owner cites ” He has never lived with other dog and when outside he barks at other dogs.” However, based on the behavior observed while in our care, the behavior department feels the Diesel may be placed into a home with another social, playful dog, pre-adoption interaction is always recommended to ensure compatability with a resident dog. When off leash with other dogs Diesel engages in running play. He offers paw slaps to solicit then engages in bouncy running play. 4/5 update: Diesel engages in running play with males and females. He becomes overwhelemed by pushy solicitation from a male dog. 4/6 update: Diesel engages in play with males and females, then begins to wander off and spend time alone.
