Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Unaltered, Seized Other notes: Upon intake Debbie bared teeth. SAFER ASSESSMENT: 11/17/2016 Debbie growled upon collaring for SAFER assessment. Tactile portions of assessment were skipped. Toy: 1. Minimal interest Summary: Debbie is difficult to remove from her kennel, she stays to the back with fearful body language, nervous and trembling and has a crouched body posture. She is fearful of the shelter environment and she walks with a low and fearful body language. Debbie may benefit best from placement with a New Hope rescue who can assess her behavior in a stable environment as she is not a suitable candidate for a SAFER assessment at this time. PLAYGROUP: Summary MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 11/16/16 During her initial medical examination, Debbie appeared very tense and tolerated minimal handling; displaying all warning signals (growling/baring teeth) ENERGY LEVEL: RECOMMENDATIONS: New Hope Only _X_No children (under 13) _X_Place with a New Hope partner (Debbie would benefit best from placement with a New Hope rescue group who can further assess this behavior in a stable environment.) Potential challenges: _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression (Debbie has displayed fearful/defensive behavior during her stay at our care centers, tolerating very minimal handling; any form of direct touch may result in a fearful bite. It is recommended that Debbie be allowed a proper time to decompress to aid in acclimating to a new environment. Force-free, reward based training is advised when introducing/exposing Debbie to new and unfamiliar situations.)
