04/08/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper dog: A1067857 Laura came in as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Laura was nervous and tense, she allowed all handling with a slow approach. During SAFER Laura came into the assessment room nervous and panting, she was social towards the assessor but with a slow approach. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Laura follows a bit fearful, mouths the leash and tries to exit during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Laura was easy to handle when engaged with the item. We recommend Laura go to an experienced adopter without children due to her very fearful nature. Interactions should be conducted at a slow pace and Laura given the opportunity to initiate them. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is tense and fearful, trembles, and her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is between her legs, body tense, trembles and mouth closed. Tag: 2. Dog follows fearful, mouths the leash but quickly de-escalates and attempts to exit. Squeeze 1 & 2: 3. Dog closes mouth, becomes stiff. Flank squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog licks, then turns away. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, and lip neutral.
