SAFE 04/01/15 DIAMOND – A1029429
Safe - 4-1-2015 Manhattan
A volunteer writes: Pretty Diamond was left into our care as her family moved to a place not allowing large dogs. She lived happily with kids, CATS and other dogs and comes with beautiful recommendations from her former owners. She was undoubtably a family dog, loved and well attended to, not a diamond in the rough but an elegant gem that shined joy and companionship over her loved ones. She is with us, now, a bit lost, crying softly at times as her life has been abruptly shattered. She is sociable, though, comes when called, sits on command and even takes treats I prepared for her. She is house trained, of course as related to us by her former masters. Diamond is quite a pretty girl, very feminine in her well groomed cow print vanilla and chocolate dress. She acts quite timid at the care center although she is said to be very outgoing and playful. Well, to get Diamond back to the way she was, there is only one “remedy.” A new owner, a new family, a new home where her lovely personality will shine, brighter than the summer sun. Will you be the one to open your heart to Diamond. She is waiting for you at the Manhattan Care Center.

03/07/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Diamond pulls a bit on leash. She was shy but friendly during the assessment – low body, but trying to stay close. Diamond was shy during handling, but had soft body language. She was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Diamond was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. She was relaxed when approaching a friendly dog, but was not playful. Diamond was surrender to us. Her previous owner stated that she is friendly with strangers and children. The owner described her as a very playful and active dog. Diamond was shy during the assessment and was whining when interacting with the assessor and she had a submissive posture with her tail tucked, body lowered, head down, gaze averted. The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, shy, fearful body language , mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) she is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food. No interest. Toy 1. No interest. Rawhide 1. No interest. Dog – dog 1. Dog approaches the helper, soft body, tail neutral, but not playful. Helper:A1021471
